The Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET) was founded as an independent, not-for-profit, organization with accreditation of engineering and technology programs as the primary function. The first president elected was Dr. Che-Ho Wei. |

During the National Engineering Education Conference (also known as Conference of Presidents and Deans of Engineering/Technology Universities and Institutes), a consensus on the idea of starting a new organization to coordinate and promote engineering and technology education was reached. A working team, headed by Dr. Yeong-Bin Yang, was established. |
